Substantially more upfront — metal is one of the higher-cost systems to install. The trade is service life: a properly installed standing seam roof commonly outlasts two or three composition roofs, so measured as cost per year it is competitive or better. We measure your roof and put an exact number in writing rather than quote a range.
No, not on a residential installation. The panels go over solid decking with underlayment, with attic space and insulation below.
Far less. There is no granular surface for spores to grip and no keyway between courses for a colony to open up.
Sometimes on commercial and industrial buildings, where a retrofit framing system carries new panels over the old roof. On residential work we generally tear off, because the deck condition and the flashing detail matter too much to leave unverified.

Premium products, not builder grade
Heavier-gauge panel, a premium coating system rather than the base finish, concealed clips that let the panel move with temperature, and matching flashing and trim fabricated to the roof instead of adapted from stock. Metal is a decades-long decision, and the gauge and the coating are what make it one.
Installed the way the manufacturer specifies
Material warranties are conditional on installation. Get the fastener pattern, the flashing detail or the ventilation wrong and the coverage behind the product is gone. We install to the published specification, so the warranty you paid for stays intact.
